Make: Ford. Model: Mustang. It started when Carroll Shelby, ever the salesman, convinced Hertz to order 1,001 Ford Mustangs modified by his shop for a "Rent-A-Racer" program in 1966. The Shelby G.T.350H was born, and the legend grew almost as soon as the cars began hitting the track and dragstrip. It took 40 years for Hertz to try again
The 1969 Mustang body was completely redesigned and different from the previous years. The 1969 major restyling of the Mustang made it about 4 inches longer and shorter by 1.5 inches than the 1967/68 models. It was also heavier. The 1969 Mustang retained the 108″ wheelbase of the original ’64½’s.
The 1968 Shelby Mustangs were shipped as GT Mustangs from Ford. Shelby American basically did cosmetic things to the GT. Fiberglass front end, hood, trunk lid, side scoops, Roll bar, console with Snake on top. Cobra valve covers. Shelby letters. This car does not have the word Mustang any place on it. I have a GT350.
And according to Shel there was not a "nut or bolt" difference between them and the non-KR GT500's. Back to the interview: "MM: The regular GT500 has a 428 Police Interceptor, and the KR has a Cobra Jet 428 with more horsepower. "CS: The GT500s had a 428, but there wasn't any less horsepower. That's bull%$#@.
The 2023 Ford Mustang starts at $27,770. This buys the basic coupe model with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The most affordable new Mustang convertible has the same engine and begins at $33,270.
1967-68 Mustang, Non-Shelby. The headlamp bezel on the 1967-68 extends to the edge of the grille, and eliminates the filler piece that showed up on the earlier models. This distinguishes the 1967-68 from earlier models, and differences between the two are much easier to spot. Like the earlier Mustangs, the grille is different between 1967 and 1968.
As the title said please discuss the differences, advantages of one over the other, and anything else worth mentioning. 1. I have done some research and find the 0-60 times and QTR times to differ a good bit.
1. The GT500 uses a Roots type supercharger, rather than the twin-screw unit in the Ford GT, to make 500hp and 480 ft-lbs of torque. 2. The Shelby GT500 is offered as both a hardtop and a convertible.
The third-generation Mustang was produced by Ford from 1979 until 1993. Built on Ford's Fox platform, it is commonly referred to as the Fox body Mustang. It evolved through several sub-models, trim levels, and drivetrain combinations during its production life. It underwent updates for the 1987 model year and seemed destined for replacement
Mustang evolution progressed steadily during this generation; highlights included the 500-hp supercharged Shelby GT500, a new 5.0-liter V-8 for the 2011 GT and the racetrack-ready 2012 Boss 302
